For game developers

Games in a language you can finish

Input, scoring, collisions and a 3D world — in Logo you can read aloud.

  • Games that already run. Downhill skiing, a 3D Space Invaders clone, Tetris, and a one-minute target-practice game in the Examples menu. Open them, fork them, break them.
  • Blocks and text edit the same program. Start in blocks if you want; grow into text without a rewrite.
  • The engine is in the language. Multiple turtles and workers (threads), mouse and keyboard, sound, physics, triggers. A game loop is a forever you can see.
  • Publish and fork are free. Record a play session as GIF or MP4 with savegif or savemp4. 3D and physics are not paid add-ons.
  • After Scratch, before Python. Playable this afternoon; not a toy you will have to abandon.

Next step

Read Downhill Skiing, then open the IDE and load it from Examples — or start the published copy from that page and hit the flag. Steer, miss a tree, then open the code.
